Hi Everyone!
So, Substack just enabled a new CHATS feature, so that we can start conversations with subscribers! Think of it like a group chat for topics related to Nick Gibney’s Story Board.
Unlike other forms of social media, these Chat Threads are more like Chat Rooms of the old internet, only available to those who are subscribed to my Newsletter. Of course, anyone can join my newsletter. But unlike, say, Twitter, where your comments to a Tweet are visible to anyone, even if they don’t follow you or the Tweet you’re commenting on, Substack keeps these conversations a little more intimate. Think of Substack Chats as a round-table conversation at the Story Board Club, hosted in one of those private conference rooms at the library. Anyone can join the club, but only those in the room can participate.
I’m excited about this prospect. It limits the toxic aspects of social media and promotes the best parts: new connections and group conversations based on mutual interest. And while Elon Musk seems to be burning Twitter to the ground, it’s got me thinking that maybe it’s time for a change. So far, Substack has been great. So let’s see if this new feature creates an opportunity for relaxed conversations, inspirations, and, at the very least, some good book and movie recommendations!
How to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Available for iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the “Chat” icon, the two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my first THREAD inside.
That’s it! Let’s try it out!
