I’m going to keep this short, because there are about two more chapters before the end of this novel’s third draft and I want to get back to it.
I had written the second to last chapter of this draft in a previous iteration, but it needs serious reworking. The final chapter, however, was erased.
This is because I wrote a new ending scene a few months ago.
There is still about a chapter’s worth of work to be done in order to get my characters from where they are now to this new ending. I even have a general idea of what needs to happen in that space. Oh my!
The trick now is to heed the words of wise Margaret Atwood (the same words which helped me hit delete on that previous final chapter):
The ending that you think is going to be the ending is often not the ending.
What I’m reading now:
Red Sister by Mark Lawrence
Language of the Night by Ursula K. Le Guin

Keep at it, Nick! Much looking forward to reading the new draft ~ and full of admiration for your steadfast efforts!♥️
